Don't Feel Overwhelmed in an Industry with Such Depth

Our July Meet the Board series features our new Board Member at Large, Bonnie Wood, who provides Voyager Support at Brown & Brown in Atlanta, Georgia. Bonnie resides in Atlanta with her husband, two daughters, and two crazy shih tzus, where one acts as if he is a wolf and the other acts like a cat. Summer gardening will be a new endeavor, although admittedly a prior attempt at growing zucchini was a failure. She is hopeful that the other veggies will come to fruition and be plentiful.

Bonnie works primarily with AMS360, ImageRight and BenefitPoint. While Bonnie’s journey joining NetVU’s Board of Directors on July 1st has just begun, she is working diligently to prioritize what she sees her key priorities will be. Bonnie is confident that her knowledge and product management expertise will bring a fresh perspective to the NetVU Board.

Bonnie initially became involved with NetVU through training. Some of her favorite aspects of NetVU are constant collaborations with peers and networking, which Bonnie explains both are essential in the growth of one’s career.

Bonnie wishes more people would be aware that NetVU provides a vast wealth of knowledge from industry leaders within NetVU. Circling back to the importance of networking, these industry leaders are always eager to help expand your network. It may be by introducing you to other industry leaders and peers, helping with agency advancements, or pointing you in the right direction for help. Those who are involved with NetVU are always willing to help, which is the beauty of a collaborative environment.

Bonnie has a tip she could not wait to share for AMS360 and exporting from the grid. “I’m always amazed at how many folks still don’t realize this is available as I use it all the time from different areas of the database.” Another place to find great tips and tricks just like this is on NetVU’s online discussion forum the NetVU Community (NCOM).

While Bonnie has many more tips up her sleeve, she would have to say her greatest piece of advice to anyone new to the industry is to ask questions. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions as this industry has so much depth it can definitely be overwhelming at times!” NetVU is here to help make that transition from feeling uncertain to feeling incredibly knowledgeable, that much simpler. She says don't be afraid to reach out, to start building your network, and to ask questions when you are seeking answers.
