Day of Caring Supports the Fight Against Hunger
Generosity is the rocket fuel that powers NetVU, and that doesn’t just mean members helping each other. Our members actively serve their communities, and in recognition of the fact that the pandemic has hit families hard, this year’s Day of Caring is teaming up with
Feeding America
.
Since we can’t gather in person for a volunteer event, we’ve turned Day of Caring into a hybrid event, with two ways to participate:
1.
Visit the
Feeding America website
,
find your local food bank
and sign up to volunteer.
2.
Donate to NetVU’s
Team Feed
, which will help stock over 200 food banks across the country.
For over 40 years, Feeding America has responded to the hunger crisis in America by providing food to people in need through a nationwide network of food banks.
“This hybrid approach will give more NetVU members the opportunity to participate, which in turn feeds more families and benefits more people who really need help at this time,” says Joe Clabaugh, immediate past chair of the NetVU board from The Cincinnati Insurance Company, proud sponsor of Day of Caring since its inception. “I’ve been out to the
Team Feed site
and seen how much other organizations have already donated, so let’s make an outstanding showing!”
Plans are already in the works for next year’s Day of Caring. When NetVU members gather for Accelerate in Denver they will have the opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank of the Rockies. Leading the charge will be NetVU volunteer Patty McQuade of Moody insurance Agency in Denver.
“Food insecurity in America was on the rise even before the pandemic, and your help, by donating or volunteering, can go a long way in helping others,” says McQuade. “We are all familiar with those who appear to be in need, but the need may even extend to your neighbors who appear to be doing just fine. Food banks buy in bulk, so a donation of even $5 can be a tremendous help in serving those in need.”
Day of Caring succeeds because of you! That’s why we want to hear your story. We’re going to feature our members on the NetVU Community (NCOM) and social media who volunteered at their local food bank. Please send a picture of yourself and the top three reasons why you donated your time.
If you have any questions about donating or volunteering please reach out to
